Participation in community, social and civic activities

Active involvement in the community is part of a healthy living. We help individuals with a disability to be socially active, something that their disability may make difficult.

Active involvement in the community is part of healthy living. We help individuals with a disability to be socially active, something that their disability may make difficult.

Assistance with social, community and civic participation is a funded support category under the NDIS Scheme. People with a disability are at an increased risk of isolation, which can be a huge strain on their health. Social interaction outside the home can go a long way to improving an individual's quality of life.

Social participation may include group activities or classes at local community centres, sporting events, concerts, films, hobby groups, shopping trips and some education courses. Funding can be provided for transport and some participation fees. We can also advise on available activities and find others with similar interests.
